Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the signings of experienced forward Shaun Yardley and young talent Luke Ferrara for the approaching campaign.
Yardley, who holds the record for all time Phantoms appearances, will again add his experience to the group and he has shown over recent seasons that he is capable of producing big points and playing a strong part in the teams offence.
Coach Cruickshank commented “Apples and oranges, night and day, I think people will be saying this when they see Shaun Yardley this year. I really believe Yards has so much more to offer than we have seen so far and that’s not saying he hasn’t done a great job over the last few seasons. I have been very demanding of Shaun in trying to get the best out of him and I feel he has responded beautifully. This is a player that all his team mates really want to see come into his own and his renewed commitment to his game and fitness will pay huge dividends for us this year. I’m expecting great things from Shaun Yardley”.
The club are also delighted to see Luke Ferrara return. Luke has great potential and we hope to see him develop this year and begin to establish himself at senior level. Ferrara started 2009-2010 as a prospect player and soon began to show glimpses of what we hope will be the start of a successful career.
Curtis Cruickshank commented “Luke Ferrara is the perfect example of how having a great youth system can make your pro-team better - at the same time allowing a young man, who has shown commitment and dedication, to reach a huge goal in his career. Luke is a great young prospect who excelled last year when thrust into a demanding position and if he continues to develop at this rate I feel he will be in the GB squad sooner rather than later. I look forward to nurturing Luke’s natural ability and trying to get the best out of him. This shouldn’t be too much of a task as he is a fantastic young man and like his brother a great professional”.
The club expects to be in a position to announce the final roster additions over the coming weeks.
