Peterborough Phantoms today announced three prospect players for the 2010-2011 season. Forward Conner Stokes (169cm, 65 kilos) is joined by twin brothers Nathan (Defence, 178cm, 71kilos) and Conor (Forward, 180cm, 66 kilos) Pollard. All three players are part of this year’s crop of U18s and have spent time in the clubs Academy. All three now have the opportunity to train with the senior team and experience the game from EPL level and we welcome them to the fold and hope they can take the opportunity to establish themselves at this very challenging senior level

Coach Curtis Cruickshank commented, “I believe that development from within your organization plays a huge part in your top team’s success. That’s why I am so excited this year to have such quality young men to work with. These three young players have proven through hard work, dedication and the willingness to go the extra mile that they are the right choices for this opportunity. Our goal this year will be to provide these young men with not only all the tools they need for on-ice success but also to create the positive habits off the ice that they require for a professional approach. This is truly a unique opportunity for these young men and I hope through our teachings and their hard work we will be seeing the stars of the future develop right before our eyes”

Peterborough Phantoms today announced the signing of Lithuanian International forward Darius Lelenas for the 2010-2011 season.

The powerful forward will take his place in the line-up and add a proven scoring punch to the roster.

“Darius is a player that scores, he is not afraid to get in the action, can look after himself and will score from the paint - something we felt we needed in the team. He is a strong player and will make himself known to the opposition. Curtis, Paul and I researched many players and we are delighted that the search ended with a player of Darius’s pedigree” commented Director of Hockey Jon Kynaston.

Coach Cruickshank also enthused, “I know some people were getting impatient about our last import signing but I needed to make sure that we got the quality that we were looking for. I think we have found a gem in Darius Lelenas and I think we have found the pure goal scorer that I thought we needed to add to the roster. Darius is a big, strong forward who is not afraid to be physical which made him that much more appealing”.

“He has played in some great leagues and the National team for his country so I expect him to be very successful here and contribute to our team’s success. With our last signing secured, I really like the look of our team. I think we have found the mix I wanted and have the personnel for us to have a chance to be successful. I can’t wait to get them all together and start the hard work”.

Phantoms are not expecting to add further to the senior roster but expect to announce the coming season’s prospect players by the end of the month.

Phantoms are looking to sign up an Equipment manager for the forthcoming season. This person will play a key role on the team during match nights and is an ideal opportunity for any fan who wants to take their passion for the sport and club onto another level and who is happy to soak up and work within a high pressure team environment.

All necessary training will be provided but candidates will need to be available on both match nights and at one evening training session during the week.

Peterborough Phantoms today announced the signings of two exciting young returnees in the form of netminder Damien King and defenceman Thomas Jeffery for the coming season.

King returns after stepping up from Junior hockey in 2009-2010 to the senior program where we did a solid job alongside Stephen Wall. Jeffery is back on the Phantoms blue line after being awarded the Most Improved Player title for 2009-2010. Coach Curtis Cruickshank commented “Damien is a hard working, dedicated prospect for this team and we are delighted to have him return. After proving his commitment and ability last year we will look to continue his progression into a goalie for the future. I think my experience will be hugely beneficial to help Damien progress his game and I look forward to working with such a nice young man and hope we can get him to where we and he would like to be”.

“TJ is a beast.  Tom is a young man with lots of potential. He has put in his time and now is at the stage where he needs to take the next step into being an impact player. We are going to work on developing the tools which he already has in place. I think his physical style of play will make him very useful this coming season and hopefully we can add some new elements as well. TJ is willing to put in the work and listen to advice, that’s all I ask of my young players and I’m very excited to watch him develop before us”.

The club expects to announce their final import signing towards the end of this week.

Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the return of top British defencemen James Morgan. The influencial Morgan returns to the fold and is added to an impressive defensive core with Hutchinson, Newman and Duncombe already taking their place on the Phantoms blue line for 2010-2011.

Coach Cruickshank was excited about the signing, ”I am thrilled to have retained the services of James Morgan. From day one I have said that Morgy can be a difference maker for us and be a big part of our success here. James provides skill from the back but also a grit and physical presence that we need to add to the mix. I believe that we have three of the top british D-men in the league now and throw in Dog’s leadership and heart and I think you have a winning d-core”.

“Our jigsaw is almost finished for the coming season and the addition of James was a huge piece. A couple of final pieces and we will be off and running and I’m really getting excited about the make up of this team. I am truly happy with what we have in place so far”.

Morgan himself is equally please to be back, ”I’m really excited about the new season and the new faces in the locker room along with a very well structured coaching system and I have no doubt that Phantoms will be the fittest team in the league. I feel we have the team to go all the way again and I’m just buzzing to be back where I love playing”.

Phantoms are looking to complete the last pieces of the recruitment jigsaw over the next few weeks as the new season approaches.
