Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the signings of experienced forward Shaun Yardley and young talent Luke Ferrara for the approaching campaign.
Yardley, who holds the record for all time Phantoms appearances, will again add his experience to the group and he has shown over recent seasons that he is capable of producing big points and playing a strong part in the teams offence.
Coach Cruickshank commented “Apples and oranges, night and day, I think people will be saying this when they see Shaun Yardley this year. I really believe Yards has so much more to offer than we have seen so far and that’s not saying he hasn’t done a great job over the last few seasons. I have been very demanding of Shaun in trying to get the best out of him and I feel he has responded beautifully. This is a player that all his team mates really want to see come into his own and his renewed commitment to his game and fitness will pay huge dividends for us this year. I’m expecting great things from Shaun Yardley”.
The club are also delighted to see Luke Ferrara return. Luke has great potential and we hope to see him develop this year and begin to establish himself at senior level. Ferrara started 2009-2010 as a prospect player and soon began to show glimpses of what we hope will be the start of a successful career.
Curtis Cruickshank commented “Luke Ferrara is the perfect example of how having a great youth system can make your pro-team better - at the same time allowing a young man, who has shown commitment and dedication, to reach a huge goal in his career. Luke is a great young prospect who excelled last year when thrust into a demanding position and if he continues to develop at this rate I feel he will be in the GB squad sooner rather than later. I look forward to nurturing Luke’s natural ability and trying to get the best out of him. This shouldn’t be too much of a task as he is a fantastic young man and like his brother a great professional”.
The club expects to be in a position to announce the final roster additions over the coming weeks.

Phantoms have revealed their shirt designs for the 2010/2011 campaign with the home shirt being white with orange/blue trim and the away shirt being dark blue with black/orange trim.
Adjustments and additions to the shirt sponsors will be made over the coming weeks so there are still fantastic opportunities for local businesses to jump on board and have their names on the shirts. If you are interested, please get in touch via marketing@peterboroughphantoms.com .

While the Phantoms Under 16B’s had their final game of the 2009/2010 season last Saturday, the Under 18’s are already three weeks into their pre-season conditioning regime for the 2010/2011 campaign !
The Under 18s team have been going through a structured fitness programme at Ferry Meadows twice a week since early June, where all of their fitness levels are logged and times kept with targets set for each individual’s activities. The aim is for the players to be in peak condition prior to the start of on-ice training in August. Starting in July the team will drop one of the Ferry Meadow sessions and replace it with a Gym session.
The Under 18’s are coached by Jon Kynaston with Steve Barber and Ian Offers the Assistant Coaches.
The Phantoms Junior Website is also undergoing a revamp with a new cleaner look and feel, and with the ability now for team representatives to update their section of the site. This allows scores and reports to be added directly by each team. The new website address is http://www.peterborough-phantoms.com .

Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the re-signing of top Latvian forward Maris Ziedins. The popular forward will return to a strong Phantoms line up and ‘Z’ is already looking forward to another season as part of the Phantoms family.
Coach Curtis Cruickshank was understandably pleased with the capture, “although I haven’t personally had the pleasure of seeing Z play, everyone I have spoken to says he is a joy to watch. Z will be relied on for his skill and offense but will also provide us with a well rounded game that allows me to play him in any situation. I hope that our style of play will allow Z to create opportunities and use his potential to the fullest. I have heard nothing but good things about his character and he is extremely well respected throughout this league but especially in our locker room, where it matters most. This is another star player that we have added to our lineup and I couldn’t be more pleased. As I said before, players like Z staying with Peterborough speaks volumes about the organisation and the fans that support it. I am proud to be part of that and hopefully can bring the club success”.
Maris will again be looking to play a leading role in the Phantoms 2010-2011 forward line and is determined to play his part in a successful campaign.
The club expects to be in a position to announce further roster additions in the coming weeks.

Peterborough Phantoms are delighted to announce the signing of influential British forward Warren Tait.
Tait returns to Phantoms having established himself as a valuable and versatile member of the team and a player whose all round capabilities see him adding value in many areas. Director of Hockey, Jon Kynaston, commented, “following the excellent addition of Jeff Glowa and the return of the talented James Ferrara, adding Warren continues to really strengthen the 2010/2011 roster. Warren was a player we were delighted with in all areas last season and Curtis shared the same evaluation of his value to the team so we were delighted when the player made it clear from the outset that he was keen on a return to Phantoms and the club’s great supporters”.
Coach Curtis Cruickshank was equally delighted with the latest capture, “no disrespect intended to any of the other players but when I took over the coaching duties here, Warren Tait was my number one target to re-sign. He is a veteran leader who has extensive experience at Elite level and his knowledge of the game along with that delivered by some of our other experienced players will be of huge benefit to us. Warren’s an extremely versatile player as well as being probably the best penalty-kill player in the league and having such a player on the team allows me infinite options in our style of play which can be hugely important with the changing demands of a game. He’s a fantastic person and I look forward to working with Warren who is sure to play a huge role in the success of this team”.
The club expects to be in a position to announce further roster additions over the coming days.
